This technique was something lots of folks used a few years ago, specifically when Alavert was a recurring ecb deal and also had unlimited prints of high $$ ipq's - because people did it alot, cvs instituted a policy of refusing to allow gc's to be rung up in a transaction with any other items or any transaction where q's and/or ecb's were being used to pay. My stores still stick to that policy. Yours will go back to that policy if you get too happy with using this technique and they catch on. Advertising how to do it here will expedite the end of your cvs stores letting you do this, since now you'll find lots of others trying it in the stores you shop in - and eventually, some knucklehead will be told no gc's with ecb's, they'll pitch a fit, bells will ring, memos will go out, and notices will be posted at the registers saying no gc's in orders paid with ecb's / q's. There is a thread here in the ds forums about how to convert ecb's into cash, via legitimate methods. If that is your goal, better to go about it in a way that doesn't cause your stores to view you as a scammer.
