For Chase Rewards - i wonder why they ask people to specifically sign-up. why not just activate it automatically and advertise it. people will be aware and will spend and gain. asking people to sign-up involves additional clerical headache
1. to get you logged onto the site and find out the new offerings, kind of like "lost-leader" at your local retailers, get you into the door. i actually did this one time and found some nice new offers
2. if you did not do this, chase would not need to pay you(the evil side of any business). similar to why many retailers promote selling/buying Gift cards. less return for them, money already in their "books and balance sheet". plus, if you lose it, tough luck.
one of this elderly relative actually throw away tons of kids' gift cards as they did some house cleaning..
January - March: Gas stations, drugstores, Starbucks
April - June: Restaurants, movie theaters
July - September: Gas stations, theme parks, Kohl's
October - December: Amazon.com, "Select department stores"
Agreed, absolutely my fault. Now that I realize the mistake I've made I'm looking at other options.
So um, thanks for telling me not to blame Chase? Feel better now?
I guess I'm just confused why you are so quick to lose your Chase Freedom card. If you fly regularly, then 5% back on airfare is nothing to sneeze at, even if it's capped at $1500. Put one RT ticket to India on your Freedom, and then put another on some other card that gives good cashback on airfare.
Q1 is hot hot hot. Go to CVS, buy three vanilla reloads for $500 each with $3.95 fee each. Results in 5 x 3 x 500 = 7500 UR points OR $75. $75-3x$3.95=$63.15 . for no actual spend!
Only do this on the last day if you still have yet to reach the $1500 limit. Spend as much as you can on gas first, but why pay the $4 fee if you don't need to?
And not to mention you lost all the benefit your credit card may give you like accidental damage, extended warranty, price protection, stolen credit card protection, etc. If your GC lost or stolen, you lose everything.
