I also had to contact customer service. It seems the system is reporting Invalid SKU for any ship-to-store orders? They claim it can't match up the membership number to the order (despite having ordered it online, and letting it fill out all of the forms for me).
I couldn't find any way to get to live chat on their website, but found this link by Googling for it: http://acerebates.com/promocenter...rvice.html After connecting to live chat it was no problem to get it fixed (I'm obviously not the first person they had to deal with with this problem) Code:
2013-01-02 14:11:14 Ralph Thank you for using Ace Hardware's chat. Please stand by while I access your information. 2013-01-02 14:11:33 Ralph Allow me to check on the SKU not found. 2013-01-02 14:13:27 Ralph The rebate is invalid because the system was not able to verify the purchase using the rewards number linked to the online account. However, I have made an exception and your $30.00 postcard check will be mailed within 15 days. 2013-01-02 14:13:53 Chris Thank you |

I just chatted with ACE rebates. What a hassle. They initially told me to Fax my invoice, etc to them. I stated that I didn't have a fax, thus they said to mail it. I asked if there was anything else that could be done and they then asked for the individual item numbers. I gave them the 6x item numbers and they replied at the $30.00 would be sent... The ACE Rebate Center (online) now shows that status of the rebates as "Valid" instead of "Invalid". At least it's done (well, we'll see if I get it...) But I definitely won't be doing any ACE rebates again!!!!

Guys,
I noticed alot of you are having problems with the rebate and such. I bought online for store pickup. I went to the store in Brooklyn and picked up the items with just a dot matrix printed form as the receipt. I mailed that in with my rebate/upc's. Reading some things on this thread, I was worried I'd have to run them down for my rebate, but I just checked the status online and everything shows as valid. |

This online order was the worst experience that I ever had with any company and I have been ordering online 2-3 times a week for many years. They have no idea what they are doing. Order pickup notification didn't happen (i.e. no notification), store pickup was a joke (they only gave me part of my order) and the rebate was deemed invalid. I can't believe this company stays in business...

Same hassle here. Rebate invalid, emailed customer services, for now it looks like it got fixed, but we'll see...
I also had online order; when I picked it up cashier told me about the rebate without me prompting her and she was sure it works for store pick up orders. Very messed up company. |

Same problem as others, received postcard saying my rebate was denied because "Ace SKU not found"
Chat on Google Chrome (Mac) did not allow me to send messages. Finally chatted successfully in different browser. Gave them my ACE Rewards number and all of the item SKU numbers, and they came back with the following: "The reason why the SKU number could not be found is because either the Ace Rewards card was not scanned or it was scanned improperly at the time of the purchase. This also may occur if the Ace Rewards card that was used to submit the rebate was different from the one to make the purchase. However, I have updated the status on your rebate and it is now valid. Please allow 15 days to receive your $25 check in the form of a postcard." Very silly, considering that I entered the ACE Rewards number during checkout, and ACE's own rebate submission tool auto-populated the SKU information from the order linked to my ACE Rewards account. (Indeed, I can still see the points on my ACE Rewards account from this purchase.) I should note that I received all of the items on the order just fine. I love my local ACE Hardware store and will continue to visit it (Settergren's in Minneapolis). But I doubt I will bother with future online/rebate promotions from this company. Ordered online for store pickup. Pickup went smooth and they gave me a dot matrix receipt. Submitted rebate online. Received card that says "Ace SKU not found". At least they identify a way to resubmit.
If done on purpose, they get to hold on to the money longer and also no doubt reduce the number of "eligible" receipients.
