I don't know how these guys get off calling a 4.2 pound laptop an Ultrabook, I thought they're supposed to be under 3 pounds? 1366x768 resolution is fine for web surfing or watching video, not great for productivity (Excel sucks on this resolution).

In case anyone is curious, a quick scouring of reviews have indicated some cons including poor battery life, a middle-of-the-road brightness 1366x768 screen, and pretty hefty weight for an ultrabook (4.2 lbs).

Okay everyone get over it: the U410 is one of Lenovo's ultrabooks. I agree it's not the best rated machine (wifi issues mostly, which were supposed to be fixed by now), but it's still a solid, lightER, all aluminum, slim machine with an SSD. It's an ultrabook.
And FWIW, this is an awesome deal, 8GB an the dedicated graphics makes this a real winner. Kudos OP. |

hum, I missed the fact that it's got discrete graphics.
Pretty good deal for the specs, though it's not exactly sexy as far as ultrabooks go Looks like normal price is ~650 for the i3, so this good for the i5 version Last edited by vip00; 11-28-2012 at 02:30 PM.. |

I'm down with the 1366x768 lynch mob. The problem is that the average consumer doesn't give a rat's ass about screen resolution, nor do they even know what that is. So us geeks, photographers, etc., have to suffer with the crappy low res displays. I absolutely, positively, with a burning passion, HATE low resolution displays with poor contrast.
This should the standard: 1366x768 reserved for 11" or under 12.5" to 14 " need to use 1600 x 900 minimum All other sizes need to be 1920x1080 minimum |
