Heatpipes on the EVO have contact with each other and the fan is a different design. Is the temp difference worth the extra 8.50 or so. Temps between the two at idle are identical. At load there might be a 2-3 degree difference. Also depending on the die layout of the chip core temps might be less variable from core to core on the EVO. http://www.hitechlegion.com/revie...ew?start=5
Code also works for the EVO. Can anybody chime in whether the EVO is worth the extra $10?
I bought this as soon as I received the Newegg email. Besides the FAR from Microcenter, this is the 2nd cheapest this CPU Cooler has been.
Here's hoping this will fit on my ASRock Extreme4 + G.Skill Ripjaws RAM. Just did a measure width-wise in my case, and it appears it will clear the side panel by less than 0.25 inches. Cross my fingers!!
Been using this for almost 3 years with my old i7-920. don't expect to OC like crazy, but it's definitely better than the stock coolers (as anything is compared to stock). I just keep my cpu at a breezy 3.0ghz (stock at 2.66) and it stays at around ~40C idle, and 50-60C under load.
