I bought this unit at Home Depot in Boulder CO on Black Friday and they took the coupon, saving me an extra $40. I guess YMMV.

Hmmm - looks a lot like the Ridgid set I just bought for $179. Oh yeah, that's cause it probably is. With a red case instead of orange. Because TTI makes both Ridgid and Milwaukee.
Except you don't get free batteries in the future on the Milwaukee stuff, only Ridgid. |

and the receipt is? i did see the ct version (supposedly same tools but w compact batteries) on sale here in MA stores for $199. The XC version isn't in stock in the area, i suspect.

Yes, fair enough, the $179 Ridgid isn't a hammer drill. The specs of the drill and the shape of it are quite similar, but I guess it doesn't have the "hammer" function if you're into that. I believe that with the Ridgid impact driver you might use that like a hammer drill as it has the impact. You'd need to get a drill bit with the hex base or get a chuck with a hex base. I myself generally do wood-based drilling and driving, not masonry, therefore I could give a **** about a hammer drill. Anyway, I was just pointing it out for others that might not "trust" Ridgid tools or who think that Milwaukee is a completely different brand. I think Milwaukee is to Audi as Ridgid is to VW. They also make Ryobi (which I've owned and loved myself and which sealed the deal when I found out they made Ridgid's stuff) |

 Hammer drills have the pounding action "pushing" the hardware, while impact drivers have the pounding action "turning" the hardware. You would not need two separate tools if they did the same thing.
