Not great, but it is the best one going (I searched for weeks now).
Reviews are great on Amazon.....70+ reviews, average is 4.5 stars
Includes wheel package (normally $50).
I paid zero tax in VA.
I've been waiting for a good deal (delivered) on these for over a month.
BF had them for $297, but that deal was B&M pickup only.

Check out this thread over at RV.net. They reference uscarb.com as well as talk about doing the conversion yourself (which is what I'll most likely do since I have access to a lot of tooling equipment at work).

Propane / NG Conversion [rv.net]

The guys there are very knowledgeable (much more so than meSmilie ) and they are extremely helpful.
Does that homemade conversion allow you to run it on either NG or LPG?

That uscarb website is terrible. They need a new webmaster bad!

TY & reps for the info and link. I watched a few other vids as well. I had no idea the conversion to NG/LPG was that simple. I may cancel my backordered gen and get a bigger one being I could run it on NG and save money on fuel. Need to check out Costco and see what they have.
Costco used to carry a Champion 9000/7500w with remote start I believe. At times they would dip to about $600 with a coupon. I assume they are still carrying them.

Yes, I should be able to run a tri-fuel setup (LPG, NG, and gasoline). To run LPG I would need a pressure regulator (similar to what's on a gas grill) and I'm guessing I would have to adjust the mixture slightly, but that's done with a simple metering valve.

The most expensive items in the conversion are the fuel regulator (039-122 KN Regulator at $50 in my case) and the rubber hose used to hook it up to the house's gas line (prices vary greatly depending on length, whether or not you have quick connects, etc.). Most other items are simple brass fittings that can be found at a hardware store.

I agree about their website...it looks like it's from the mid-'90's Smilie

Make sure you cross reference the serial number with the recall list on the champion website. The costco ones were the ones with the leaky carbs for that size generator. I got the same one in the champion version.

it was a small recall, but ur right one should check anyway. the recalled ones are "old stock" now (More than a year old), they were made Nov/Dec of 2011, so probably not many of them still sitting on store shelves.

Got generator delivered today. Only bummer is it got damaged in shipping. The air intake/filter/housing got dented. Called Champion and they are sending out replacement parts in the mail today. Their customer service reps were very helpful and friendly. One thing the guy on the phone said, is they recommend adjusting the valves every 100 hours. I will be taking all precautions to ensure this engine runs and lasts for a long time!

Mine arrived yesterday. The box was beat to hell and back but the unit looks OK. It smelled of gasoline when I opened the box and it looks like it was run. I hope just for testing before shipping. Anyone elses looked used?

Mine came beat up as well.. but looks ok. Yes it did smell like gasoline... and in the oil well looks like it had oil already but empty. I am assuming it was used for testing before manufacturer shipped out.

I oiled it up, gas it and with one pull it goes on right away. Left it running for 15 minutes to see any abnormal issues pops up. Nothing... looks good to go. Going to get some gasoline stabilizer tomorrow and give it a full tank to sit on standby.

Yes, Champion has the best quality control checks out there for Chinese-made generators. They do spot check, oil them up and run them. (Mine was that way) I finally received the replacement parts to fix the damage mine received in shipping. Finished the 5 hour break-in period and changed the oil again.

1 tip: Get some aluminum throw away pie pans. I used that, and it easily slipped under it to change the oil.

Another thing you might want to consider purchasing is an hour meter. I purchased one just like this and installed mine today:

Seems to be a nice little generator. Glad I purchased it. (Only still wish it was 220 instead of 110.)
