While I've never heard the 4hr usage statement and I've owned a LOT of DLP devices (on my 4th dlp projector and my 6yr old refurb Samsung DLP HDTV is still going on original bulb), you do have to take it easy with DLP on shutdown and allowing ample time to cool down as well as not doing frequent turn on/off in short time.
THAT SAID, if you plan to do lots of 3D, get the brightest one you can get because even the Acer (I have it now) is just adequate for 3D as brightness get cut-down with 3D glasses. If you just do mostly 2D hd stuff, get the LED.

I have a DLP 1080p PJ, and I know I think about if I'm gonna use the PJ for 3 or 4 hours, if not, I will use a hdtv. With LED PJ, it's not bulb based , it's like hdtv's that have 30,000-50,000 hours on screen. |

Looks like it's a bit of a hack. Kinda cool though, but it's already a mess to get nVidia 3D vision working on my OFFICIALLY supported Acer, so if you're not into headaches, I wouldn't bother. In addition to needing the right driver and the right video card, you'll need nVidia 3D vision kit (unless you do a Russian hack, more headache). Now if it works with Optoma 3D-XL (pricey but easy) than it would be more useful because you can use any 3D source you want like a PS3. *For 3D, does this projector have IR emitter? If now, how can you do DLP link to sync? Last edited by teaberry; 11-30-2012 at 11:22 AM.. |

I held out for this one with free shipping at this price, too. I haven't been able to see it in person since we don't have any Frys in Maryland. Based on the online intel, it sounds like the best projector Slick Deal out there for a 720P projector without expensive replacement bulbs to worry about.

No zoom Sucky throw back 3D cut ALOT in brightness. Which means, you put this on the brightest set and it'll be comparable to "lowest brightness" on the acer. Know what that means? FANS FANS and MORE FAN NOISE Acer h5360 = 2500 lumens LG PA70G = 700 lumens I'll buy one though. Need a portable one and the bulb life is ridiculous |

What I am giving link to is for DLP bulb stuff, nothing to do with this lg70 LED model , which doesn't have a bulb, ok? Maybe do google search on this topic, here is one link. http://www.fixyourdlp.com/2012/07...lamp-life/ |

700 lumens has me worried. I'm looking at reviews on youtube and the fan noise at that brightness level is pretty awful. If I turned it down to the 500 lumen setting, that is probably not enough for 3D content. In any case, 700 isn't going to cut through ambient light at all, so it would be pretty useless during the day.
Never having to worry about the lamp would be nice though. Lamps go up into the $400-$500 range on some projectors, and that's a pretty crazy additional expense in this market segment. Does Fry's charge a restocking fee? |

What Google keywords do you suggest; I already mentioned I looked it up (keyword DLP bulb 4 hour) but came up with nothing describing your point. That's why I'm asking you. I was also researching AVSforum.com, it's easier to just provide reference as you just did. |

if you got 40 mins to see a review of the 70g, this is the one to watch.
Just realize if people in this room watch it, it will be sold online in about 1 hour or 2. ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JIWJ1EVwZg luv2ctheworld sorry bro, I don't have time to look through avs forum room about the 4 hour thing, if you looked at the link I did provide, it is giving the point about startup and turn off PUTS a lot of stress on bulb. And the other points talk about ways to take care of bulb. You didn't find it helpful. And if you don't believe me that it was talked about in AVS , that is fine. I don't care. I have a dlp PJ and I was told that and seen others write about it in the forum rooms. But I don't have a clue which post. And you are telling me to find it, I don't need to, you do. I thought you would be happy I gave link to dlp care. I guess not.

Having said that, 3D greatly reduced the amount of light that reaches the eye. You need as much lumen output as you can get for 3D, and 700 really isn't going to cut it. For 2D in a light controlled room, this PJ should be great up to 100" or so. |
