And intel has plenty of competition in that arena with ARM and it's licensees which is why intel stock has taken quite the beating (not as bad as AMD but pretty bad) |

http://www.legitreviews.com/news/14568/ Any chip that contains GPU are counted as part of the GPU market. This includes Nvidia's Tegra 3 and some of Intel's processors with integrated graphics. I was really frugal UNTIL I saw all these slickdeals.

And on the desktop nVidia doesn't use Tegra chips, and on top of that every computer that uses nVidia add-in boards is also carrying an intel GPU. Tegra didn't "take away" any market share from intel GPUs because it never competed with intel GPUs, which currently only exist with intel CPUs anyway. You clearly don't know what you're talking about with regards to Tegra and the legitreviews article doesn't say anything about "tegra taking away intel market share" it's about overall GPU market shares. If you had said that there's increasing popularity of GeForce GPUs being used as the primary GPU in the desktop market that would have been an accurate statement but you wrote about "Tegras" taking away intel's market share which is nonsense. And the legitreviews article is plain ridiculous anyways since all those desktops running nVidia GPUs also carry an intel GPU that it's just not using. TL;DR Tegras are primarily used in the low-cost tablet space (see Nexus 7) and are not currently competing with intel GPUs so they cannot have "taken away" any of intel's nonexistent market share. If you meant GeForce GPUs then so be it, but that's not what you wrote. Last edited by Cirrus; 12-03-2012 at 04:34 PM.. |

PC sales took a dump this quarter while tablet sales took off. While PC makers are busy moaning and groaning and licking their wounds (and taking hits on their stock price, INTC being one of them) Asus had a good quarter thanks to the boost they got from tablet sales. Not so for the other PC makers unless you count Apple. Considering how bad PCs are doing and how good tablets are in stark contrast it's hardly surprising that GPU shares went north for Nvidia where they have a good tablet presence while it went south for Intel and AMD where they just don't. |

However I'm not sure that computers are fast enough yet. They don't do what I say, let alone what I want. And they don't do it before I want it. When that all happens transparently and perfectly, then they're fast enough. |
