just came back from the mountain view costco. 5 or 6 pallets left of the 20 year kirkland. Wanted to pick up the 15 year kirkland/macallan but didnt see any.
would also like to know your impression on the 15 vs the 20. Anyone else taste test both?

Just picked up 15yr Kirkland Macallan which just landed at my local Costco today. Limit is 4 per person. Store only got 10 palettes and they were flying off the shelves. Saw like 3 people buying 4 of them each. Guy said that they will be sold out tomorrow. These things are high in demand and most people who like single malt wouldn't say otherwise.
Already got 6 of 20yr Speyside. Now just need to find some time to drink it. |

Where are you located? What store? |

Just came back from Kirkland, WA Costco, and they easily have 200 bottles on the floor.
Bought one because of the hype here. Cost $59.99. Thanks to WA outregeous tax, comes out to be around $78. Cracked it open and tried it.... Its allright I guess. I am not a scotch drinker so I dont have anything to benchmark it againts. Definitely can taste the Oak. Smells nice

2011 definitely belonged to vibram five fingers and vitacoco. |

My opinion of the 15 yr sherry bottle is good, but not great enough for 49.99 that I would replace it as one of my fav. sherry bottles. I'd rather spend an extra $10 for something like auchentoshan triple wood, much better.(though it may not be fair to compare ) Don't get me wrong , I enjoyed the 15 yr Kirkland, and glad I tried it. Those are my thoughts considering I'm in CA, where we have great prices & options for scotch.
I got the 20 yr bottle, but it'll be awhile before I'll get to it. I usually stick with the 12-16 years. This would be my first trying a 20 yr old bottle, so not sure how to compare. I think it's definitely worth a shot for that price / age. What some people dislike, others may love. Enjoy ~ |

Just tried the Macallan 15. I like it. Not as strong a Sherry flavor as the 20. A little truer to the traditional Speyside. I feel like its a bit smoother than the 20. Personally, I would pick up couple of bottles of each favoring the macallan 15 slightly. |
