Costco BM Kirkland Signature 20 year Single Malt scotch whisky for $44.99

I bought both, but only tried the 20 yo this past weekend.

I am not a big Speyside fan (like Highlands better), but the 20 yo is definitely better than the usual 12yr Speysides I have had - latest one I can remember is Cragganmore. 20 yo is more defined and worth the buy or two.

However, I personally would not buy case(s) of this thing to stockpile. Not worth it. But maybe a Speyside fan sees it otherwise.

Will let you know when i taste the 15 yo macallan, but wont be until this weekend.

Do Costco stores in Illinois stock the Kirkland brand whiskey?

Just picked up 15yr Kirkland Macallan which just landed at my local Costco today. Limit is 4 per person. Store only got 10 palettes and they were flying off the shelves. Saw like 3 people buying 4 of them each. Guy said that they will be sold out tomorrow. These things are high in demand and most people who like single malt wouldn't say otherwise.

Already got 6 of 20yr Speyside. Now just need to find some time to drink it.

Even if that is true, that it is Macallan, that doesn't change my review of the product. Call it what you like, it's not a very interesting Scotch, which leads me to believe it's not Macallan. I can only call it like I taste it, and I've tasted a lot of different Scotch over the years. What I tasted, regardless of what it's called, does not want me to go buy more than one bottle. I'd rather spend $10 more and get Highland Park 15 or even spend $10 less and get Glenlivet Nadurra.

If it was what I remembered Macallan 18 tasting like, I was prepared to go back and get a case. I really wanted that to be true. Unfortunately, this smacks of Glenfiddich, which means it's merely break even to me at this price. YMMV.

It's also possible it's a Macallan experiment gone wrong and they dumped it on Costco rather than risking it under their name, but I'd be surprised if that's true. No Macallan is this dull or if it is, count me as unimpressed.

Just came back from Kirkland, WA Costco, and they easily have 200 bottles on the floor.

Bought one because of the hype here. Cost $59.99. Thanks to WA outregeous tax, comes out to be around $78.

Cracked it open and tried it.... Its allright I guess. I am not a scotch drinker so I dont have anything to benchmark it againts. Definitely can taste the Oak. Smells nice

I don't think our Costco's sell liquor here in NY.

just came back from the mountain view costco. 5 or 6 pallets left of the 20 year kirkland. Wanted to pick up the 15 year kirkland/macallan but didnt see any.

would also like to know your impression on the 15 vs the 20.

Anyone else taste test both?
