This years edition of Costco KS private label single malt is available in some stores in MA. Price $44.99 per 750ml bottle. It is aged 20 years and sherry cask finished. Seems like a great deal for the age for fellow SDers. If you've tried it, please share some tasting notes here.
  • Costco Item Number 650728
  • You usually don't need Costco membership if you are only buying liquor. At least where I am, no surcharge either, you pay the same as us members.
  • Due to state liquor regulations etc, some Costco liquor stores are operated by independent liquor/wine shops that may/can not carry Costco KS private label products
  • Call your stores ahead to verify availability if in doubt

Macallan was shown as the distillery in last year's version but the price was about twice as much. This year they might have gotten this from a different Speyside source.

Cheers.

Anyone know if the store in Everett, MA have any?
No. Unless the arrangement changed, the Everett one is not operated by Costco and only had wine & beer.

20 year old and 40% abv, that sounds like a travesty.
Gotta love Internet commandos... There's some amazing scotch at 40% like the Macallan 25 anniversary... And many more slightly over 40%.

If you are drinking this to "get drunk"' you're doing it wrong...

I picked up 2 bottles in Atlanta. Initial impressions are really good, but a bit sharper on the initial taste than I anticipated for a 20, a splash of water clears that right up. Definitely worth the asking price though.

Thanks for the review. I'm hoping to pick a few up as housewarming/thanks for the party gifts. And one for me! Big Grin

I hope Costco does not increase its price what with all the phone calls & item checks/delivery schedule inquiries.

Well, so glad I called ahead and had the clerk put a bottle behind the counter for me - because he totally didn't do that. Mad

Still managed to pick up a bottle, and one for a friend, leaving just four remaining at my store.

Anyway, I'm not a seasoned scotch drinker, but I've had my share, and this is pretty smooth.

i went to the schaumburg, il costco (meacham & golf) during lunch and they had a ton last night. He said it just came in and was selling like hotcakes.

I can't justify the price since I'm a cheap drunk.
Thanks! I was planning a trip out there tomorrow.

Corporate Costco Stores only, the others are private companies that lease space and do not offer the Costco Brands.
The one in Waltham is corporate.

Yes, Montys and Bolivars are only made on the ISOM.
LOL, also Honduras

And Dominican Republic
http://www.jrcigars.com/jr/index....RISTO.html

JR Cigars has been making the Non ISOMs for many years and that is what Costco's sells, they DO NOT sell real Cuban Cigars

Slim pickings yesterday in St. Louis. I finally found the 20 year sitting on top of a pallet of vodka. There was only about a case and a half left.

Will try a taste test this weekend between it and Johnny Blue. Apples and oranges, I know, but Blue is my paragon for smoothness.

Was on the floor of SF Costco today--confirmed no 20 year olds still and the cases still show in transit when you enter it into the computer (maybe tonight, maybe the next night). I even tried to look at the back of the warehouse to see if that meant they would be sitting around back there. Didn't see it there.

There were, however, bottles of the 15 year old Kirkland Scotch for $44. The lady who worked there asked me if the 20 year old bottle was smaller (because the price was the same). Nope--both 750 ml (as I read off SD to her over my cell phone). She was confused about why the pricing would be the same for the 15 and the 20 year olds.
The reason is because the 15 year Kirkland label says that it was distilled at Macallan and the 20 year does not.
