Help finding replacement pads for headphones

Chaco 152 18 November 30, 2012 at 05:11 PM
Can someone explain how this works to me?
I'm looking for replacement pads for a pair of Denon DN-HP1000 headphones.

I'm not entirely too familiar with what I need to be looking for in this area. You see, my friend has these head phones that have terribly worn out ear pads and I told him, for some reason, that I'd look for some to replace them.

Will any replacement pads work as long as they're made for a certain driver sizes? or does that not matter

Pointing me towards any general info on headphones would be awesome too. I've heard that AVS forums is a good place to start, but it doesn't look like they cover headphones... I guess they only do more home theater type of audio.

I'm a little out of my element here and any help would be much appreciated.

I think Head-Fi.org [head-fi.org] is your best chance for an answer on the pad interchangeability.

If you want direct replacement pads, your simplest option is the Denon service network [denon.com].

Generic replacement pads are widely available, or buy a pair of cheapo headphones of similar shape and size.

Or get a sheet of 1" thick urethane sponge foam and 2 cookie cutters. Sharpen the cutters. The inner one should be slightly smaller than the diameter of each headphone. Use it to cut only partially through the foam

the sock mod has been around for a while. Just use nice poly. sock to reduce any head heat.

I wonder if the OP died, and if he did, maybe I could claim his headphones and just use them with that pair of red socks that my mommy bought me when I was in 4th grade. Wink
