Was at the store today and they had stacks of these grinders so check your stores. Reviews seem fine on the hd site, amazon only has reviews on reconditioned models with 2 people not liking this. For $25 whatever i will use it to sharpen mower blades and edging shovels.

I picked one up but unsure about when I would use it. It looks to be a special limited edition deal. I will figure something to grind down.

It may have just been my luck, but I purchased the 8" one as part of a 50 off 100 purchase and had to return it after it started smoking after using it with some buffing wheels for less than 5 minutes. These may have to be kept to grinding only, and not used for buffing/polishing. For an all around buffer though (softer materials), of course you'd want something that can be adjusted down to much lower rpms.

Is it a repost if it was posted under black friday deals?

I wondered why that deal didn't get more attention. Was wondering what to buy with my paypal $5 off $25. Booyah! Had been eyeing a $80 one so this was perfect.

I've had this model for a year, worked great to sharpen a mower blade...not commercial grade by any means but good for small jobs

Did you get any flak for returning an item with that 50 off 100 promo?

Off topic... I got a more expensive grinder few days back and now I'm looking for a good work bench to install it in. Can you guys recommend one?
I like these types of stands better than a bench.

http://www.harborfreight.com/gara...42986.html

I use a big Baldor buffer/grinder a lot and there are times when the size or shape of a part is such that you just can't do what you need to do with the bench in the way. The stand gives you a lot more working room around it and they're fairly cheap. Also leaves your bench free for other stuff. I know nothing about that one in particular, just knew that HF would have one to link to as an example.

One downside to the stands is that they will tend to "walk" when using a higher powered grinder and larger wheels due to the force of the wheels turning. Don't know whether what you have is big enough to do that or not. You can bolt/screw them down but I just use one of those 2' x 2' foam pads that link together like puzzle pieces that are made to cushion areas where you stand under it and that's enough to keep it from moving around.

I agree. Anyone have any evidence to the contrary?
Normal price is $50... I bought a no name brand used for $20 on ebay and paid $60 for my craftsman.

bought one, but nearest one in stock showing is 25 miles away. Guess I'll check the local store in the morning to double check. Never really could go by the online inventory checkers.

TY for your answer Repped... I don't think the stand you linked will cut it but I'll keep looking. I got this for $86 http://slickdeals.net/f/5603664-DEWALT-DW758-8-Inch-Bench-Grinder-85-69-w-25-off-100-promo-fs-amazon-LDs?v=1

I picked this up on black friday for the same price. Putting it together was fairly easy and tested it a few times. I was able to get a pretty sharp edge on some chisels and an axe. Seems to be worth the price paid
