No they don't...

Prices for ssds were cheaper before black friday.

They don't produce these drives anymore and most vendors are low in stock now. The price will shoot up. The deal on 840 drive will start to show up. Sadly, the 840 128 GB sucks.

I got the order shipped email from JR as well.
I jumped on the 840 the day it came out and I have to say I am extremely disappointed overall.
I feel the 830 was much faster and more reliable (840 sometimes won't let you boot after hibernate)

I installed a 256GB 830 on my desktop this week, couldn't be happier. Getting 470MB/s read, 400MB/s write. Windows 7 boots up in 9 seconds.

These guys in J&R not only do they have the nerve to sell you items out of stock, they actually changed my order to just 1 item when I purchased 2!

I don't think that J&R and me are going to be friends anymore...

There are different Intel drives. The Samsung 830 isn't necessarily the fastest drive out there, but it has an excellent track record. I don't know what Intel drive you are referring to. The 520 is good.

The Samsung 830 was about $76 with TURKEY10 coupon and Chase Freedom cashback a week ago at J&R. It was $78 at Amazon within the last couple weeks I believe. I wouldn't pay $90 plus tax for this deal!

Yes I posted that deal too. It really doesn't matter if it's the Intel 330 or 520 (better) both are very reliable and has a track record also. I've been using the 330 right now and am very pleased with it. I'm not saying 830 is not good but both of the Intel drives are of the same quality. Sandforce but customized firmware. Speed between any SSD is not a big difference

EDIT: One week makes a difference in how much stock there are for these, but I'm with you I wouldn't buy it personally

The 840 uses TLC, while the older 830 uses MLC. See this review [anandtech.com] for an excellent comparison. Personally, I prefer the 830.
