I called ATT support and they gave me the unlock code for free for my GN1. No hassles. No worries. Can't imagine it being any different for the GN2. Inserted T-Mobile sim. Booted phone. Enter unlock code. Done. Now he has an ATT branded phone on T-Moble. Took less than 5 minutes on the phone with ATT support.

LOL laugh out loud

Just figured I'd throw that info out there for those that want a quick/easy way to unlock. Can't say for sure they can do the same for the GN2, but hope so. My contract is up in a month and I want to unlock my GN2 and port it over to T-Mobile also.

I know this is not "news", but I couldn't find a thread on it so I just had to share.

I just recently got a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 and was about to pay for the unlock code for it until I stumbled across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1hzeBEeO_k

There are some people in the comments who could not get it to work, but I followed the steps exactly and it worked just fine. Tested it with an AT&T SIM and have no issues at all.

Good luck! Big Grin

Most Samsung Android phones can be unlocked for free - if you want to skip the YouTube video silliness and actually read how it's done (that is, if you want to learn something instead of mindlessly watching a video), do a quick search of forum.xda-developers.com. While you're there, read more of the forum posts...guaranteed you'll learn a lot about your phone and Android.

(Why are people today so short-attention-spanned that they have to have some YouTube video to do anything?)

I don't find anything wrong with using YouTube videos. No everyone wants to root and flashing different roms and recovery on their phone or read a bunch of texts to get the exact same information. An YouTube videos is easy to follow and gets things done quickly. If all I want to do is unlock and get going with what I want to do, YouTube videos are pretty good and easy to follow.

Will this work for S4's on ATT or sprint? The new S4 has a slot for a sim card on all carriers and is switchtable to GSM
