i couldn't find detail devices they put for this promo but for sure nokia 810 is $12.00 down. also you can bring following devices for $120 trade in value toward select phones like SGS 3 don't trade good condition iphone 4, 4s, 5 or SGS 2, 3as i believe have more street value. might try with broken 3 gs tomorrow.

The Lumia 810 that they showed as an example was free w/ 2-year agreement up until today. Now it's $99.99 w/ 2-year agreement.

When the Lumia 810 is displayed on the video, the text reads "New 2-yr agmt on qualifying plan and $20/mo for 20 months."

So I'm guessing this is either:
A - They're targeting people who are bad at math and want a $12 phone today.
B - This 2-yr agmt would be on their lower-cost Value Plan, where the $20 monthly charge would negate any savings.

Lies, damned lies, and contrast ratios.

They make you THINK you are getting a great deal on a new phone (free phones anyone?) and then make you pay through the nose by signing up for one of their two year contracts. It is far better to pay full price for a phone and then get a much cheaper prepaid plan.

It's $12 down payment, and then $20 per month for 20 months for people who want to buy their phone on credit from T-Mobile. It's for people who can't do math, because if it's $99.99 now with a 2-year agreement, why in the world would someone sign a 2 year agreement AND end up paying $400 on the credit plan. Might as well buy the phone off-contract.

As someone who got in on the cheapo Motorola Defy buy last year I'm a tiny bit interested in what they are selling phones for after the "$120.00 cash back", but my guess is that it's still cheaper and easier to just buy the mid range phones on the prepaid side which seem to run about $150.00 less than "full price" for us Value customers. It's kind of interesting how T-mobile thinks Value customers don't bother to shop around on their very own website . . .

The Value Plan is actually a very good value IF you can find your phones cheaply and don't care about having the latest and the greatest. For example I am on a 4 line Value plan contract sharing 1000 minutes, each line has 2GB of 4g data, a shared unlimited family texting plan, and unlimited WIFI calling - with all discounts in place (a legacy AAA discount and a $10.00/month gift from the retention department) I pay $98.00/month. That is a very good deal, but I am on my own for phones.

The ETF might get you out of the contract part, but there's no way it's getting you out of the $20/mo for 20 months part. You're basically paying back a hardware loan of $400 at 0% APR.

If you're planning getting out of contract with the ETF, don't choose this type of plan. Wait for a sale on a phone with the classic subsidized plans.
