Thread Details

This is the new model with the shorter/wider container and slightly more powerful motor. Decent price if you've been wanting this model.

Normally sells for $559.

This bundle adds 2 "smoothie bottles" and an extra drink recipe book.

Expires December 2, 2012 11:59 p.m. ET.

why is this better than the 5200 to justify the huge difference in price?

Cheapest place to get the 5200 would be at Costco for $375.

This has a different type of container, shorter and wider so you can probably pour out the contents easier.

Has a pulse feature and is quieter.

If you want to compare feature wise you have to compare to the 6300 or the pro 500 (same thing).

Compare with the 6300 and pro 500.

Great price! This seems better than the 5200

A great Vitamix 7500 Review with differences to the 5200:

I still think the best bang for the buck is the reconditioned 5200. If you can afford it, this one seems slightly nicer. There are a lot of Vitamix models; I recently described the various differences and similarities:

Hard to justify this kind of money for a blender but very nice price for this model and US made if that is a consideration.

The thing is that they really change the range of things the blender can do. The most frequently made thing in them is smoothies, which a normal blender *can* make, but it's a totally different experience. A powerful blender will allow you to add new things to your smoothies: whole fruit like apples/oranges, hard/fibrous vegetables like carrots, celery, or greens, nuts instead of pre-made nut milk, frozen fruit... And the results will be smoother.

Then to clean up you don't have to take it apart; just run it with soapy water and rinse.

Not to mention the thicker blending tasks that would burn out a weaker blender: nut butter, hummus, frozen desserts...

And being able to grind your own flour is pretty cool.

How does this compare to the Costco 6300 (Pro 500)? I was told by the Costco rep the 6300 had a better motor than the 5200 so I bought it. Now I realize they're the same and wondering if this is better.

picked up a vitamix yesterday from BedBath&Beyond. $500+20% off coupon = $400 for the CIA.

I figured that it isn't worth it for me to wait for a deal here on SD to save $35 and add shipping. You guys seem to know what's up in the intersection of my interests (vitamix + savings); should I return it and wait for a better deal?

Just made a banana, strawberry, almond shake like I used to get from smoothie king. Easypeasy.

Great buy and already purchased one. Was waiting for a slickdeal on one of these newer models.

Pluses over 5200 for me were:
- Shorter and fits under cabinets
- More Power
- Pulse Button
- Supposedly 40% Quieter

Pretty sure those coupons specifically list vitamix as excluded. How did you get around that?

I didn't; I checked the coupon before I went to the checkout and the exclusions list did not mention Vitamix.

Here's their online exclusions list:
