These are NOT easy-to-read... not even close. Picked up this set last week for the same price. Still good sockets though.

Free shop your way max shipping does not apply... Still a good deal, but makes me debate how much i need a standard set of deep impact sockets... It is nice to see the sears outlet have an item that will actually ship though.
Also interesting that this is an 11 piece set where the primary set sold at sears is 12. this set is only missing the 3/8" socket so not a huge deal (that is getting to be a small bolt/nut to impact off) but as a "new in box item" that is interesting. I just got a Stanley 11 piece SAE set from Amazon for $21 with FSSS... But they don't seem to be available now. Are these Craftsman "professional" much better than your standard deep impact socket set?

All the new in box Craftsman sets at Sears Outlet are Craftsman Industrial tools, which are above Pro in Sears' marketing segmentation. They are supposedly the highest quality tools Craftsman has ever sold under it's banner. Industrial was launched in early 2011 and promised to offer all 100% made in USA tools. As far as I know Grainger is the only authorized dealer of the Industrial line.
For whatever reason Craftsman seems to be giving up on Industrial and clearancing remaining stock through their outlet stores and at sears.com (search for "Craftsman Professional Use" - although prices are much higher right now at sears.com). My personal opinion is that the Industrial tools were too expensive relative to the main Craftsman line and most people decided affordability trumped country of manufacture. Anyway, there are some amazing buys on tools right now. The sale has been going on since October and started at 50% off. If you can still get the full polish wrenches they are great. Not everyone is going to need them but they are made by Armstrong for Craftsman and they are beautiful. Lots of the good stuff is already sold out though. The outlet inventory mgmt system isnt that great and my experience has been hit and miss with stores actually shipping an order that shows in stock online because they dont really have it in store. Everything is factory firsts. None of the sockets are easy read (impact or chrome) but they are embossed with the Craftsman Industrial markings and Made in USA. |
