Thread Details

waveI have been noticing lots of folks like me, with hungry cats and ravenous dogs, asking for deals/coupons, etc. I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate these deals into one area to make things easier for those of use who constantly need to save on these things!!Big Grin

I will start things off with:

Purina Beneful 7oz (trial size) bags at SWM--$1, there is a $1.50MQ out there, but the specifics elude me, I used all I had on Friday.......MM on dry dog food!!

Free Sheba 3oz cans of cat food---peelies found on Sheba or Temptations cat treats at WM. There are small bags of Temptations regular price .94, I found them on clearance for .50, so not only did I get cheap treats for the babies, but also free Sheba. Just a heads up, though, they have a pate and cuts. My felines won't eat the pate, but the dog loved it!!

Not a B&M store, but here is free Science Diet [facebook.com] hairball formula 3.5lb bag

Also found at SWM, found in 1 store out of 5!!! Tidy Cats Clumping litter--Active formula 20lb jug, $6.97 with a $1.50 peelie specifically for this formula. Nice scent, fairly good price..........

Has anyone noticed the cat scratcher poles that are carried at WM/Target are no longer jute rope? Some type of SeaWeed something or other--enough to jack the price from $14.97 to $19.97, or they have one with soft plastic fingers on it, along with the rope---for grooming--enough to ask $24.97!!!

Anyway, if the mods think this thread is a waste or in the wrong place, feel free to delete, move or ..............Wink

As for the wiki, since B&M deals change so quickly, I'd like to keep it to special offers from manufacturers and such--free samples, coupons etc., and if you notice one is expired or over, please remove it............Thanks, I hope we can keep this running and all score some deals!!!

Flea season is a challenge here too.............we don't use collars because we had a cat with an allergic reaction years ago--sent him into seizures for 2 hours.............Frown

I am not one for many pesticides either, but if flea season is really intense, I will dust the cats with Sevin dust (yes, the kind for gardens) It works great and I see no side effects on the babies. I would love to be able to afford frontline or something similar, the cost would be astronomical for my house babies based on the sheer number of my "family" members Wink

I did see a commercial that advertises using a cut orange on your pet to kill fleas--anyone ever try this? I would imagine they would get sticky when the juice dries OMG

I use food grade DE, available at many feed stores, but it isn't 100%. Is that the same as Sevin sold under a brand name? I get mine from an Amish feed store in a clear plastic bag that's sold by the pound. It can be carefully dusted on the cats and in their areas avoiding eyes and noses and can even be mixed in wet food to help against worms, although I've read varied reviews on that, but I do know the feed store uses it against fleas a worms and I've never seen signs of worms or fleas on their multiple kitties.

I also use a specific large dog spot on, always calling Bayer's toll free line to doublecheck, and can get about 10 applications (cats), more for kittens, from one tube, so that kelps, but I'm not a fan of pesticides.

The comb looked interesting and I can use Reward points, so that's a plus.

I saw that commercial too. laugh out loud So many things can be used on dogs that can harm cats. I haven't tried googling that one yet, but last year the fleas were terribly heavy here, not to mention ticks. Sadwalk

I use Lavender oil on our dog to prevent ticks when we go hiking. I just put a little bit on my hands and put it lightly on her fur and it seems to work. I dont put much because if she smells too pretty, she will find something gross to roll in. We use it on ourselves during mosquito season too and it works way better than any repellent. I have heard of people using tea tree oil as a bug repellent too.
I havent had to deal with fleas yet but my friend brought his dog over and she acted like she had fleas. After he left, I looked up some home remedies and a lot of people said they sprinkle salt all over the carpet and let it sit for awhile before vaccuuming. I used the Dr Teals that was FARR from Walgreens and it smelled sooo good.

The chemical in Sevin (yes, it's a chemical and not the same as DE) is toxic to humans AND kills honeybees. I can't imagine the long term effects on your cats, but I'd never use it -- for anything.

I did my research on the food grade diatomaceous earth and it's safety.

If Sevin is a chemical I wouldn't use it on animals, especially since they lick so much. I'm not into chemicals and pesticides. I'll use a Capstar pill or a Bayer Advantage spot (the kind that only treats fleas, it's not as harsh), but I really think the long tern of spots can't be good and I use them sparingly, as with anything else I go with moderation.

I like the food grade diatomaceous earth since it's cheap and non toxi, although it can be difficult to get it through the fur of a cat without getting it in their eyes or nose, but I drape a blanket/towel over their face while I get it on and then rub it in from top to bottom. I put it around the baseboards and on and around bedding areas.

I think I might order that electronic flea comb next time they have a sale online. I like the idea of zapping them. I take spiders and other bugs outside alive, but fleas, ticks and mosquitoes carry too many diseases to let them live.

We have a new 5$ off Beneful and a new Free Friskies store Q for Petco.
Recommend printing those quickly as Petco likes to switch their links around.

If you organise yourself well through 3/31 you can end up with 4 free cans of Friskies (or 3 Friskies and 1 Fancy Feast) in one transaction!!
Plus stacking the 5$ off Beneful with the insert Q can yield you 99 cents Beneful!!

Publix deal in the Land of Doubles only (not true for TRUE BOGO)

Sheba BOGO MQ Peelies mean two free cans of cat food, as they are priced 10/$5, so when the coupon is inserted and the price is 50ยข or below, then the register automatically doubles the amt.

PM has a new promotion where a 5$ Q prints at the bottom of the receipt with purchase of certain blue buffalo items.
They also have an instore flyer with a 2$ Q for Pro Plan and a free can wyb a bag.

The BOGO IAMS cans from last weekends P&G insert make for free/cheap cans if you have the $ off Qs from the trial bags last year.

Cat cans 99 cents at my store, dog cans $1
If you are lucky and your cashier puts them in for full amount allowed (1$ and 1.50 respectively) you might end up with some overage.

Use 5 off 25 from Petco to sweeten deal!

WTH??? I found a huge bark of wood in the bag of HS Ideal balance food I purchased at Petco. I sure hope they don't use wood to make dog food!
