waveI have been noticing lots of folks like me, with hungry cats and ravenous dogs, asking for deals/coupons, etc. I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate these deals into one area to make things easier for those of use who constantly need to save on these things!!Big Grin

I will start things off with:

Purina Beneful 7oz (trial size) bags at SWM--$1, there is a $1.50MQ out there, but the specifics elude me, I used all I had on Friday.......MM on dry dog food!!

Free Sheba 3oz cans of cat food---peelies found on Sheba or Temptations cat treats at WM. There are small bags of Temptations regular price .94, I found them on clearance for .50, so not only did I get cheap treats for the babies, but also free Sheba. Just a heads up, though, they have a pate and cuts. My felines won't eat the pate, but the dog loved it!!

Not a B&M store, but here is free Science Diet [facebook.com] hairball formula 3.5lb bag

Also found at SWM, found in 1 store out of 5!!! Tidy Cats Clumping litter--Active formula 20lb jug, $6.97 with a $1.50 peelie specifically for this formula. Nice scent, fairly good price..........

Has anyone noticed the cat scratcher poles that are carried at WM/Target are no longer jute rope? Some type of SeaWeed something or other--enough to jack the price from $14.97 to $19.97, or they have one with soft plastic fingers on it, along with the rope---for grooming--enough to ask $24.97!!!

Anyway, if the mods think this thread is a waste or in the wrong place, feel free to delete, move or ..............Wink

As for the wiki, since B&M deals change so quickly, I'd like to keep it to special offers from manufacturers and such--free samples, coupons etc., and if you notice one is expired or over, please remove it............Thanks, I hope we can keep this running and all score some deals!!!

I second wellness options. The veggies are part of the kibble (at least what I've used).

Right now I'm feeding dehydrated dog food (honest kitchen) and my dogs eat up the veggies which you can see (at least carrots/potatoes) but they're small pieces. That being said they always leave behind the dried cranberries. There's not a lot of them but it's odd to me both dogs refuse to eat cranberries.
Have you tried them yourself? If they're natural cranberries they're probably bitter. I only eat cranberries that have been sweetened.

Even more than for beauty, Maine Coons are noted for intelligence and kindly disposition.
After all, what they couldn't obtain themselves, they could always get by charming a nearby human.

You're right. I guess I thought they would taste like ocean spray. I might try it. The food is human grade. Ha ha ha.

My husband has tried a fair amount of the commercial items we feed the Chis. One cookie we got once didnt have meat in it, so I gave it a try. Wasnt bad, definitely better than some "healthy" cookies. LOL

I usually bake my dogs' treats (though I've been lazy about it for a while). When DSS was in HS he had a habit of taking a pocketful of dog treats to snack on at track practice.laugh out loud

Yeah, I do the baking for them and make their ice cream too. Kids that would come to our oldest dog's BDay party every summer delighted in being able to eat treats with all the dogs.

I wasn't trying to be funny. If the cranberry is just a cranberry why wouldn't it be food grade? Same for the veggies in the Pollux & Castor. If they're just vegetables why couldn't one eat them? If they're fake veggies, ie grain & fillers shaped to look like veggies you might not like how they taste but they should still be edible. Pet food has to be produced "cleanly" and anything that's dried shouldn't have any bacteria which requires moisture to grow.

OT: I went on a hike led by a national park ranger in Denali. She showed us a squirrel midden-- empty nut shells, etc. She picked up a piece of dried out poop and ate it! OMG Explained that the squirrel diet is vegetarian and there wasn't anything in that poop that was harmful. I'm guessing that if it hadn't been dried out it would still have bacteria in it but being dried out was safe to eat. So... if you're ever stranded in the middle of nowhere and are trying to figure out which plants and insects you can eat, don't forget the squirrel poop.

A little complex but relatively cheap

Rite Aid Rake in Points Deal Get $20PP for buying $50 of select products.
You must join the free Wellness Program which you can do in the store.
You also need 9 Oxiclean $3/1 coupons which you can buy for $3 at the couponfleamarket but this will increase your cost.
And you need to have saved 2 MeowMix $1/1 ips.

Oxiclean $3.99 x 9 = $35.91
Meow Mix $5.99 X 2 = +11.98
Filler + 2.11
Total $50.00

9 X $3mc Oxi -27.00
2 x $1mc MM - 2.00
$20/$50 -20.00
Total $1.00 oop for 2 3lb bags of Meow Mix and 9 jugs of Oxiclean.

It should be produced cleanly, but salmonella contamination is a risk. The vet's office hold recording lists a bunch of safety advice for reducing food-borne illness from pet food. My father ended up with salmonella (and tested positive for at least a year) which they never found the source, as my mother had eaten all the same foods he had. He did however, happen to be the one who feeds the dog.

Salmonella doesn't live in dry-- needs to be moist. I wasn't meaning that wet food would be safe. Just like people don't get food poisoning from crackers, cookies & (dry) cold cereal but can get food poisoning from under cooked chicken or eggs I would expect dry food to be safe to eat by people and pets. You may not like the taste but nothing grows if its dry. You won't get sick if you eat sand but you can get a lot of things if you eat mud, lol.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news..however recent studies have found that salmonella
can live in dry foods. One study found salmonella in crackers... living for 6 months.
Makes you rethink how to mix/ store dried pet food

"From 2006-2008, there was a prolonged multistate outbreak of Salmonella enterica serotype Schwarzengrund infections in humans. A total of 79 cases from 21 states were reported. The source of infection was identified as dry dog food produced at a manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania. This investigation was the first to identify contaminated dry dog food as a source of human Salmonella infections"

I think this is the same timeframe my father had it, it was 2008 or 2009 I think.
