With the growing movement for the red states to secede, perhaps it is time to make an informed observation on who the "takers" really are. For example, well over 80% of the states that voted red in the last three presidential election years receive more money than they contribute to the federal government. The most egregious of the "takers" are southern states including Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Kentucky, and Arkansas. Another matter of note is that the red states have a higher percentage of evangelicals with similar emphases on the southern states being more evangelical than other red states, and certainly more evangelical than blue states. Lastly, the red states generally have fewer college graduates with once again, the south leading the way, if you will.
Perhaps a more perfect union would exist if we allowed the red states to secede. It certainly shines new light on who really benefits from federal spending (red states). Whether there are additional correlations between higher percentages of evangelicals and lower percentages of college degree holders, and how states vote; the preponderance of evidence is irrefutable. The new union would be more fiscally sound and less likely to have policy impacted from religious zealots and the lesser educated. It's time for the "takers" to take responsibility for themselves.
