Discover card - easy way to verify CB?
I'm a BIG user of Discover card's CB, specifically ShopDiscover. Many retailers are "good" with reporting CB, say within 1 week of purchase, and I'd receive an email verifying the CB.
Unfortunately though, some retailers aren't as good, hell; some take MONTHS to credit CB (I'm looking at you, Marriott).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no straightforward way to verify CB with Discover - they give you a SUMMARY, usually broken down by category (e.g. "ONLINE SHOPPING") but those categories are lumped in. It would be nice if they'd just add another column in statements with cashback value.
Instead, I find myself going through each line item, calculating the theoretical cash back (difficult to do since I do not believe CB is taken on taxes) then reconciling, which is a PITA.
Is there a better way to do this?
