If everyone sent in their rebates, then rebates would not probably exist. I know the original purpose of rebates was to create addition instant cash for companies, but if you remember that over 20% of giftcards sold in the world are never redeemed, you can use that thinking on rebates. On top of the fact that many rebates get lost or are filled out incorrectly, at least 30% are probably not paid. For me, i would have to pay about 6 dollars in tax, spend about 20-25 minutes of my life preparing the rebate and sending it off and then wait 3 months for the money. Unless it is a HUGE rebate, it is simply not worth my time and energy. When i can buy it for 14 dollars over the tax involved, I think it is definitely worth my time to spend 14 bucks and not worry about getting back. I run a small computer support company on the side and every year i get my clients the deals on Kaspersky. These 20-30 individuals ALWAYS prefer paying a few dollars and not worrying about the dumb rebate process. For my day job, i buy 15 licenses to kaspersky annually for our computers and my boss also prefers to not deal with stupid rebates.
