Yup. CPUs are almost irrelevant for games today, been this way for years and years. There are a few exceptions, like star craft 2 but battlefield 3 will play exactly the same on a quad core phenom from 2009 as an i5-3570k at resolutions of 1080p+ and medium+ settings. Everything is GPU limited and has been for years.

I use a phenom II x4 and had a 7870 for a while. I played borderlands 2 practically with everything on ultra. Felt like the CPU bottlenecked, but it wasn't too much of a problem.

$160 after AR, aadd in a $80 128gb SSD you find here on sale, and possibly at least a 7850 here and you have a low budget, but fairly good gaming PC.

the last time i got the 100$ combo was a great deal. this is an okay deal.

Pro: Price. Actually decent mobo.

Cons: No HDMI, no optical audio = no no for HTPC. Only get this as an extreme budget gamer. If so, replace PSU. Case not the version with hd dock.

Yup, just pick a card with HDMI, or you could use a DVI to HDMI adapter or cable if you don't need it to push audio as well.

if you carefully follow rebate instructions and make a photocopy, then you shouldn't worry about rebates getting denied. Ive submitted countless times already and have a pretty much 95% success.
