The XPS 8500 weighs twice as much and is quite a bit larger. In my personal opinion the Alienware also looks cooler. They are both good choices.

So I got my XPS 13 today. Haven't hooked it up to the net yet. I'm at work and have to get the passcode from somebody.

Since this is from the outlet I wasn't expecting much. Kind of disappointed it doesn't include the Intel Widi software. Didn't get the original box either. It was supposed to be outlet new and it does say so on the packaging but I'm skeptical. But it does look new.

Okay after all of that, I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed. I love, love, love the size of this thing. It is absolutely perfect for my needs. Overall I'm excited. Thanks OP for the heads up.

Be aware that if you plan on adding/swapping video cards or hard drives, they may not fit into the Alienware case.

Man, that was fast. My X51 just arrived today. It really is about the size of an Xbox and that power cord is massive. No major flaws that I can see, but I haven't completely unwrapped it. Plenty of USB ports (2 3.0 ones). All in all, it seems to have been a great deal for $600. Thanks OP!
