With laser, extremely high odds you're toast...Extremely low odds any Law Enforcement will miss the car in front of yours and detector will catch it...Laser is a narrow beam and is line of sight...You're best chances is to use a cell phone app such as trapster where people report popular speed trap locations and actual speed traps...

Law Enforcement has stepped up their use of speed traps on overpasses to combat laser jammer which are legal in most states...Again, laser are line of sight...Jammers protect in one direction and that's horizontally in front of you...However if a laser is used from an overpass at a downward 45 degree angle, the jammer is usually rendered useless...

Ive been hit 3 times with laser and each time i've been fine! Just fyi.

While it's not impossible to pick up a laser signal that wasn't aimed at your vehicle, higher odds the cop aimed it at you and decided for whatever reason to not pull you over...

Lot of P.D. are using LIDAR speed guns, this device should be pointed at front or back of the vehicle, it does read continuously if the aim is triggered so if you are accelerating it will record highest achieved speed during session, at that point decent radar detector will most likely let you know you are targeted but at this point it doesn't matter.
In Chicago area if you are speeding about 10-13 mph in 45 mph during normal work traffic with out other traffic infractions you will most likely not get pulled over.
Beam generated by LIDAR is extremely narrow, just few degrees even in a long distance.

LIDAR is "laser" where you're pretty much screwed...You do bring up a point of "know thou enemy", see if you can research the area you frequent to determine what speed enforcement devices are used...If Laser/LIDAR isn't common then radar detectors are much more valuable...However, beware of aircraft enforcement which is big in VA and NC...You're defensiveness against that...

Granted, I would prefer an Escort brand... but this is post for an item that is $30!!

I have one of those Cobra POS radar detectors and I can tell you it's not worth a penny. Furthermore if you research popular sellers you will find your negative reviews.
Why are you so hot about it? Do you "work" for Cobra or something?
