didn't find consistent info anywhere. i think all the contents mentioned are in the box. we shall see. i presumed the two guys who posted their feedback would have been mighty mad if they didn't receive the entire kit. hes selling new LG AN-WL100 and LG's website has enough details to say what all is included. will update what i receive...

The metal receptors are called prongs. Can you take a macro picture looking down into the sleeves that are covering the prongs? I'd like to see how the prongs are exposed. I suspect that the guy just cut away the sleeve until the prongs were exposed at the tip and then he soldered the red and black wires directly to the prongs.
He replied to my question and said he used breadboard jumper wires. Smilie

to me it means the far outer wire is ground, the inner wires are positive, and the tip is for dell signaling/not used.

CHECK WITH A METER.

also no need for a 'middle man' just solder the wires together and use heatshrink to insulate the wires from each other. then heatshrink the joint between the two cable jackets
No negative?

Mine has arrived, hacked the cable, when I was about to hook it to my laptop 19v power source, found out that the outlet cable was missing, and had not a single compatible one (it's from an old Compaq machine). Ended up ordering the powersuply from Amazon, now have to wait until Wednesday.

I've had the LG AN-WL100 for some months now and have been using it with my LG HDTV, 55LW5600. This kit doesn't upconvert or upscale video, if that's what you're asking. Whatever type of signal you feed it is what it sends out (720P input sends 720P output, 1080i input sends 1080i output, etc...). I have a Roku, Xbox 360, and HTPC hooked up the the transmitting box, and video is the same as if it's hooked up directly to the TV, except no 3D 1080P over wireless. Only thing is that the TV takes maybe a couple seconds extra to display video as it finds the wireless signal, but there's no perceivable lag.

Someone else asked if it interferes with WiFi 5 Ghz signals or vice versa. I've had no problems with interference with my Wireless N router.
I also have a lw5600. How is it mounted at the back and can you use the lg remote to switch the input?

The receiver dongle mounts via the supplied doublesided velcro tape. Yes, the LG remote fully controls input selection. When you hit "Input" selection button, you'll see all the various inputs. On the graphical selection screen, the wireless inputs from the receiver will list the corresponding input (HDMI 1,2,3,4), RGB-Dsub, Component (1,2), & will display a wireless symbol in the window of the input that looks similar to the standard WiFi symbol. Also, the transmitter box will automatically power on when you turn on the TV and it will go into sleep mode when the TV is turned off.

a couple of problems you might run in to with this approach... first, if used for a phone in the past, its likely that the internal wiring uses much thinner gauge wire. secondly its very common for manufacturers to cut costs by only using the wire count they need in a cable that has the potential for more conductors fitted to the connector. with enough bad luck its possible you find the right connector, but because of its wiring layout and lack of full conductor density, you dont have the power and ground lines in place on the right pins.
Good points...was hoping to find a data cable figuring all the points would be wired but nothing I found was the same anyway. One was close but only had contacts on one side. The only reason I was looking into this was due to multiple comments on the hack page saying they had issues...so I wasn't sure if I might get one that was DOA too and thought not cutting the OEM cable would assist in getting a replacement.

So now I am cutting the OEM cable. But can anyone confirm the wires to connect to? Google+ is blocked at work. I seem to remember the positive from the supply going to the large red wire and the negative going to the large white but also seem to remember some saying the black worked too. Any confirmation?

See mod to make it work for most monitors and televisions with HDMI input, https://plus.google.com/u/1/101948760925084043079/posts/btdqMZqCzEA

There are two separate hacks. The G+ link is to get it to work at all with a non-compatible TV by providing power to the dongle using a non-stock PSU. The AVS forum hack is for using a serial cable to change the inputs on the box.

The G+ link states that Red is + and Black is - for the OEM cable.

Has anyone had success wiring this thing with anything except the cable that the guy used on G+? I'm getting mine tomorrow and would need to order the Amazon cable if the 18.5V Presario PSU I have won't work.
