How is this drive compared to the Samsung 830 that everybody has such a chubby for?
I'm new to the SSD world and want to put one in as my primary drive in a new i7 build. Ordered the 830 at MacMall yesterday but it shows backordered. Should I just wait on the backorder or save $20 and use this drive?
Thanks to anybody willing to guide an SSD noob.

Personally I think the $20 more spent on the 830 is worth it. The 830 is fast and has a good track record for reliability. I think people want to like OCZ but keep getting bitten by their QC (or lack of it) so it's gotten a bad rep. Heck, the first review that shows on TD for this drive is "5 months and this product is dead".
I've had SSDs for a while now, mostly Samsung (2 Dell OEMs, 1st & 2nd gen 256GB), a 60GB G.Skill, and a 128Gb 830. I picked up one of the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB from TD for $50 about 10 days ago to give it a shot but it won't be used on my main PC. I'll probably throw it in an HTPC so if it dies I don't lose any data that I can't easily replace.
I am sure there are people out there that have had good experiences with OCZ, there's just a lot of negative stuff out there and a lot of mixed reviews on their longevity. I've had 1 SSD fail in the last 3 or so years that I've had them and that was the 1st gen Samsung. It died after about 18 months. All the others are still going strong.
I too would recommend the Samsung, if for no other reason than they are a large company with a good reputation and stand behind their warranty. With all of the bad publicity for OCZ lately and the recent change of leadership, I can't help but wonder on the longevity of the company for the future. Any product and company can and will at some point have a product that has/ experiences issues, and I would like to be confident that the warranty will be intact when needed and the company still be around (of these I can not be sure with OCZ). I hope that they can work out the negative reviews they have and come back as a recommended and reliable (neither of which a local builder in my area has said about OCZ, in fact they have stopped carrying them due to issues they have experienced) as it just creates more competition and selection in the marketplace and is better for all.
