The registers will not allow you to buy other gift cards, but the lady at Lowes customer service nicely cashed out several hundred dollars worth of lowes gift cards for me and allowed me to buy other gift cards when I nicely told her that it does NOT say anything about not being able to purchase gift cards on the back of the Lowes gift cards and that I would never have bought so many Lowes cards if i didnt think i could buy other gift cards with them.
They were very nice and helpful at the customer service desk! Hope that helps.

On another subject, what the heck do I do with Fandango gift cards????? I bought a few at Target thinking that i could use them at my local movie theater since they have a fandango logo on their website, but when i called the theater, they said i CANNOT use them there

I guess. I just found that by Googling. I haven't bought from them in a long time so not much help but yeah IIRC that is how it works. Just take the print out to the theater.

Yup that is how Fandango works

Yes, but it's a bit of a pain and you have to be technically savvy to use Fandango promos with gift cards.

if u have amc theaters near by, use it on those theaters and ask a SDer for their stubs number to get tickets without fees. Then you can either present the e-mail confirmation you have gotten from fandango by printing it or if you have a mobile device. the first time is always the harderst
