Yes, every Wii is moddable. I picked up a new Wii myself recently. There's no denying the value it provides after it has been modded.

TRU exclusive? Funny, saw a bunch of these at Target this weekend. Still, for $125 it is $25 cheaper than in store, gets me the Gnarly Tree-Rex, and keeps me from having to unhook the Wii when the kids go visit the grandparents!  Haywood Jablomi Stimulating the economy, one slick deal at a time! If I tolerate something, I'm showing tolerance. So, if I ignore something am I then showing ignorance? |

 All joking aside...Why would you buy a 6 year old Wii console when the Wii U has been released? I guess you like buying something shortly before they 'End of Life" it... |

But why not buy a 6 year old Wii if you will enjoy it and it's worth the $..don't always have to pay the hot new thing and pay 3x as much. |

The Wii is fully mature, has a great library, and you can mod it. The Wii U isn't fully baked yet, at least in terms of the OS on the console. Plus, it will be put in special bundles, possibly colors, and discounted in the future.

Getting one. Bought two white ones for each of my son's when WallyMart had the $89 deal. My youngest really wanted the Skylanders but I missed the $35 deal at WallyMart so this will work. Don't really care for the color but I don't think he'll mind. Thanks OP.
