DEAD!!!! Sony BDP-S380 Blu-ray Disc Player (Refurb.) - $10 MM (After rebate) + shipping @ TigerDirect.com

Received my $70 AE prepaid card today! Of the dozen or so rebates I've done since November (all under $25), this one came in first.

In case someone references this thread a year from now, I wanted to leave a note stating that I did in fact receive a $70 "TigerDirect.com" labeled American Express card on January 14, 2013.
I have updated the Wiki to reflect this.

Rebates seem to come in batches. Yesterday, I got 9 rebates. Some days I will get none. Last week or maybe the week before, I got 8 on one day as well.

I received a call yesterday from Tiger Direct and was offered a Sony BDP-S180 for $60 as a replacement for my backorder. However they had no rebate offer to go with it. I said no thanks, I will wait for the correct item or a similar deal to the original as a replacement.

I called and talked with one of the supervisors today and he said their Purchasing Director was in contact with Sony to try and get some more of the same units in so the rebate applies. I asked him what if no more units came in, he said we'd cross that bridge if we came to it..

Fun Times trying to get this…

Got an email today that stated I could substitute the Sony for a refurb Samsung (and pay the normal price of the Samsung minus a $10 rebate), or, cancel my order. The original rebate however would not apply.

Congrats to those of you that got this.

I emailed the 'Supervisor' that I was in contact with earlier today after I got the email. I forwarded that email along with asking how I should go about getting the rebate to apply for a different product (???). Lets see if he responses or ignores my email (like he has done in the past…).

I talked to someone on the chat online tool, (takes forever and not particularly useful) and they said there was no way to apply the rebate to anything else. I hope you get lucky on this, and please let us know...although I've already opted to cancel my order.

I received this email today.

"Dear Tiger Customer,

This email is in regards to the SONY BLURAY player that is currently on backorder. We have tried to fill your order to no avail. We apologize to you for the negative experience you’ve had with this order. Your order will be canceled and nothing will be charged to your payment method.

For the inconvenience, we would like to offer you a $30 in house credit good towards any purchase with no expiration date."

I just did too. As long as there is no exp date, its like free money so thats cool. I believe bluray players by this C-mas will be around $30.
