Cons of 18-55, 55-250. Older lens. You have to switch between the lenses often even within the room or outdoor when you want to switch from wide to closeups. That's my no 1 reason why I prefer 18-135. It's not STM so won't continuously autofocus in movie mode especially when you zoon in and out. Read canon website for more details. Pro of 18-135, 40mm lenses STM continuous autofocus while shooting movies. I think 40mm is great for indoor photos as it has wide aperture. Moreover it'll make camera very lightweight. |

What's wrong with a 64mm (eqiuv) lens? One of the best lenses I've ever used was the legendary 55mm micro Nikkor. I like a long normal lens. Besides for video this is rock solid. The continuous autofocus is pretty cool. Same here! Honestly just youtube T3i videos on youtube using the basic 18-55 lens kit, to me it looks pretty professional! I can't complain, i think it's perfect. I'm not looking to win a indy film award either. Last edited by equisch3x; 12-06-2012 at 10:39 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I was in the same boat almost 10 years ago. I jumped on this and am upgrading from the xsi. I used just the base lens for a few years, then my kids got into sports so I picked up a zoom. The problem was, the pictures were pretty good, so I got roped into doing pictures for family events and at this point, I am in my 3rd upgrade and have a truckload of lenses. By far, I use the base 50mm, 28-125, and I just picked up a 10-22 that I cant believe I went without for so long. Keep in mind that you will want to pick up a good flash for this, which will run a few hundred too. The included is just way too weak. |

Waaaaaait. This camera doesn't have a flash? |

I'd rather a Rebel 3 with these lenses than a 4 with those other two (mostly crap) lenses. As Zig Ziglar says, it's better to spend too much and waste a little money than spend too little and waste it all. If you buy the other deal, at the end of the day you're spending real money on crap lenses. And your pix with be the worse for it. My 2 cents and I've been a photog for nearly 4 decades now.
