So apparently retailers are selling this thing for more than 10x their actual value, or Intel is selling these at a loss in a desperate attempt to drop inventory.

These are great for the price given the right need. I have an older SATA 2 laptop that has a 60GB hard drive, but mostly used only for web browsing. This hard drive will be perfect for a major speed boost at a very reasonable price.

By the time you're supposed to receive your rebate it's past the claim date, so when you eventually realize they never even sent it it's too late to do anything. They always have some bullshit excuse about never receiving it or that the form was filled out improperly.

MIR's are a cancer. They exist in the hopes that people won't bother with them because they're a pain in the ass, which they intentionally are. They're especially bad when they're TD rebates because you're lucky to even get your money after going through all their loops.

I got this drive as a gift 3 years ago, when it was much more costly. It's been my rock-solid boot drive in my desktop ever since. Even with just Sata 2, it's a nice speed boost over a spinning HD.

The 80 Gb capacity is a bit low for me, though.
