I've tested this Canon and the Panasonic DMC-ZSS19. It's a close call with outdoor photos. I don't like the pop-up flash on the Canon. The Pana is a little better indoor/without flash. Battery life is also 15-20% longer. I also like the build quality of the Japanese made Pana. You can get the Pana for $170 at Best Buy, plus another $10 off if you use a Mastercard. Another option is to bring the Best Buy ads showing "available instore" to Target for a price match, then add the $10 off $50 Target coupon (good till 15th Dec).

Pana's TZ30 is the same as ZS20. ZS19 is identical to ZS20, minus GPS. The touch screen is very handy for movie zooming, image tracking, or one touch focus/shoot. One potential downside is the lack of an external dedicated battery charger. The battery must be charged while inside the camera. You'll need to spend an extra $10 for an external charger.

My unit comes with firmware 1.1. Some older units may come with FW 1.0. You can download the FW update from Panasonic, extract the *.bin file, and put this file in the SD card (no folder). Turn on the Pana and it will ask you to update the Firmware.
