Hmmm, been waiting on the right deal for a laptop in the $300 range. I know that this one will meet my very basic needs (word processing, surfing web, skyping w/ family), but hesitant to pull trigger based on short battery life and subpar webcam. I don't HAVE to have a new laptop right now, so do you guys think this is as good as it's gonna get for a laptop for this price, or anybody's crystal ball tell them that a better laptop for this price may pop up over next few weeks. (Also, I do not have a Staples anywhere remotely near me).
About a month ago, I had a similar decision on an Acer and Gateway. Because the Gateway had a six cell battery, bigger hard drive, and better webcam, I went with the Gateway. The processor speed, like someone else pointed out, won't make a huge difference for most of us.
I would buy the best looking screen with the fastest processor you can get for the money.
That will give you the best longevity for the laptop ...
500gb- vs 320gb harddrive? 99% will not use more than 10gb-20gb in the laptops lifetime unless you plan on storing massive movie flies and video.
If your using it as a desktop replacement then weight is not much of factor, but if your gonna
lug it around i'd look for lighter solutions...even 5 lbs these days of tablets and smartphones seems very heavy.
I actually prefer windows 7 vs windows 8....for what I plan on doing with laptop it will probably run better ...in fact you want to see your pc run really fast...load up windows XP...
