I bought one of these along with the 7dbi antenna that a reviewer on Amazon recommended, and i am incredibly impressed. I used it last weekend in a metal building where I couldn't get a wireless signal at all with my laptop. There is a building close to it with open wifi (library). I couldn't even see the SSD at all. With this unit and the extra antenna, I was getting 75% link strength and a solid connection. From nothing to 75% is just fantastic.

It isnt that good anyways, its quite overhyped. I have 3 of them and one already failed from overheating already. Under heavy load the adapter makes squealing noises and the realtek chip overheats. I pry mine open and put a little heatsink on it and its running decently, but really its nothing worth bragging about in terms of performance.

This is true, but in practice very few people use good passwords, especially for home networks.
