I know CA has a law that forbids retailers from raising a price before discounting it. For example, if this coffee maker was the $89.99 up until a week ago, Kohl's can't raise the price to $99.99 and then discount it.
Really? Does Sears know about that because they do that crap every week (if not more often)!
I found the local news story I saw, and the store "caught" was Kohl's!
If anyone in CA is interested, click here[cbslocal.com], and type in kohl's in the search bar below the rows of videos. The bit about the practice being illegal is around the 2:20 mark.
