I returned the Gateway I picked up from Target on Sunday ($259) for this... for $19 more you get about 20% better CPU performance (B960 vs B980, about 1930/2400 on Passmark) It's near 2nd gen i3 power at that rate. Also you get USB 3.0... and lets face it... Lenovo vs. Gateway for $19 more... no brainer... Lenovo all the way... Build Quality on a Lenovo is hard to beat.

Hey Pinkertonfloyd did you open it up yet? Can you find out if it had the gt630 graphics chip cause that gpu is 1.5times faster than a hd4000

I thought so as well especially since frys website states it has that upgraded gpu but no one to verify. ordered one of these bad boys for my parents and the xps 8500 deal for the wifey

Ok, I can confirm because I picked one of these up for my wife for general purpose usage from Fry's:

It actually runs pretty quick for a Lenovo, not too overburdened with bloatware although Fry's tried to sell me the $199 warranty along with the laptop which I found funny that the warranty was almost the same price as the dang computer.

sweet!!! my parents should be happy then. I'm giving them 2-3yrs before they break it which i'll just replace with another SD deal. such an endless cycle

Yeah man, I have been messing around with it here for a little while just getting everything moved over from her old Dell e1705 and I am actually pretty thoroughly impressed with the quickness of the thing. I would say for the price you really cannot beat it. I already ordered upgraded RAM for it though just to max it out to full capacity because well that is who I am and she likes doing a lot of photo stuff so it will probably be a good thing in the end.

I am impressed with the overall snappyness of the hard drive for what it is, it pulls and runs stuff like a champ. My only complaint (and it is one with a lot of laptops lately) is that the trackpad is offset to the left which annoys me coming from my MBP which is centered. BUT THAT BEING SAID, my wife is a lefty and as soon as she saw it she was all happy because it was easier for her then so that shoots my complaint right down.

Oh and I posted at 23:56 PDT originally. It is now 02:12 PDT and the laptop is still running on the 60% charge that came with it from factory. That is not too damn bad.
