Your candy bar example is a perfect example. You question wasn't, Can I afford to buy something better?. It was Can I get something better for $150 more?. That's like buying the 44 cent candy bar at Walmart and then saying, "Could I have gotten a better candy bar for $1.00?" Of course you could have. You could have bought a king size candy bar for that price. But that doesn't mean that 44 cents was a bad deal or a bad decision considering the fact that any gas station charges you $1 for that same regular size candy bar. Furthermore, as one person eating a candy bar, you probably don't need a king sized candy bar. The car example works the same. Let me switch it to illustrate it better though. Can Warren Buffet get a better house if he spends $300,000? I'm sure he can. We all know he can afford it -- $300,000 isn't a critical spending decision for him much the same as $150 isn't a critical spending decision for you. But we all know that he still lives in the same house in Omaha that he bought in the 1950's. Why? Because he doesn't need to buy a new $300,000 home. It's not a question of whether or not he can afford it - just like your question was not about affordability. Your question was about possibility. If you thought my answer was "dickish", try this one on for size: If the money doesn't matter, why ask? Feel free to use the search box in the top right to find a bajillion DSLR deals that are for better cameras for $450 and you wouldn't need to ask in the first place. There is a whole world of better cameras for $450. Then, if you spend $225 more than that, there is another whole world of cameras that are better yet. Thirty seconds of self-research could have saved you the "dickish" response that I apparently gave you. Best of luck with however you spend your money. If you have no idea of the difference between this camera and the cameras that cost $450, you're probably wasting 100% of your money on whichever camera you buy. You should probably do some research about DSLR cameras before you run off and spend several hundred dollars on one -- no matter whether you're a billionaire or you make thirty grand a year. However, what I was trying to tell you from the beginning is that if you're going to buy something blindly to make your first foray into DSLR photography, this is a great way to get your feet wet without investing more than necessary. There is probably a 50/50 chance that you'll keep the camera/decide that you're not that interested in photography and get rid of it. Why spend $150 more to find that out when you don't even know what the next $150 buys you? I was trying to be helpful. Last edited by Parachute07; 12-08-2012 at 07:50 AM.. |

IMO this is a heart-beat FP deal. In recent past people were jumping on these for about the same price WITHOUT the lens like flies. If you have a limited budget, don't want to spend more, or are new to dSLR, jump on it quick. I think the promo code last for 5-7 days. It's just the matter of the camera being in stock or not. So it's not completely dead yet. |
