I bought this before you posted. I bought it online and the coupon works online as well. It's a great deal for the laptop for all that's included. I am over in Korea now so I trust Samsung a lot more than when I was back stateside. I don't think I knew that Samsung made computers when I was in America. I have come to trust the brand in Korea though (this coming from a Mac guy)

This is exactly what I'm looking for minus Windows 8...hmmm. I wish there was a way to downgrade that didn't require buying a new copy of Windows 7 for ~$100. Tempted to give it a shot, but I think using Windows 8 for actual work might be too annoying.

Windows 8 has a full desktop. A completely normal, windowed, standard desktop. The only difference is, instead of launching apps from a menu in the lower left corner, you launch apps from a touch-friendly launching screen. Launching Word? Yep, looks like Word. Editing CAD files? Yep, looks like your normal CAD editor. You have the option of using Metro-style full screen apps for apps that are written to be that way, but it's not required. I've been using W8 on my primary work computer for 3 months, and on my desktop at home for a month. It's just as good for work as W7 ever was. |

You aren't clambering into a different area of the OS, and then exiting out of it again to do something. Clicking the start menu takes all of your focus to the lower left hand part of the screen, until you launch your app. W8 just takes all of your focus on a full-screen launcher until you launch your app. All I'm saying is preference is fine - if you don't want to use it, that's cool - but people are just making shit up to bash on what, in my experience, is a perfectly good OS. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's more difficult. |
