2. Does it really blow it away? Everything I read showed bias one way or the other with a slight on average edge to the A8 overall but certainly not for everything. 3. If memory is an issue then both laptops will need a 4GB upgrade to 8GB. The hard drive thing is semantics. They both have big aging drives. Both could handle an SSD upgrade. I have an 180GB SSD I picked up for $50 shipped sitting in it's box next to my desk. 3. Gateway 3 sub ports/wo BT, Sammy 4 usb ports/w BT 3. Gateway $340, Sammy $480 These are both middling laptops but quite capable at the price-point. All impressions are that this actual Gateway model is a winner. I'd gladly pay more for a dramatically different Sammy experience but have gotten more hyperbole than substance. I personally have been living with 2 usb ports for years. |

2. It's dependent on a user's need. The AMD variant seems to be a bit better handling video editing and similar tasks (due to the physical 4 cores), whereas the Intel variant is overall more efficient due to hyperthreading. 3. I basically made the same argument, memory and hdd are null considering how cheap and easy it is to upgrade these two configurations. 4. True, not to mention the Sammy has BT 4.0 5. Not sure where you're getting that price, but on Target's website it's $529...even after $10 discount it's still more expensive than the Sammy, which in my eyes trumps just about every feature on the Gateway. http://www.target.com/p/gateway-1...A-14293000 |

Just a heads up everyone. I was going to get this sammy but then I found the Toshiba L855-S5372 15.6" Laptop i7-3630QM which is on clearance for the same price after the $100 coupon. The only catch was I had to call and place my order over the phone to get them to apply the $100 Coupon because its a clearance laptop. It's a i7 where the sammy is only a i5.

I was just looking at Samsung products website and they list the T01us version of the np350v5c, which appears to be same as staples version, except it only has 500gb HD and has an i7 processor, and it says expandable to 8gb ram. http://www.samsung.com/us/compute...01US-specs Last edited by dementia; 12-07-2012 at 02:06 PM.. |
