Good points. No taxing/gaming going on here, at least for now. I'm sure it is overkill. I have always built my PC's and know little about laptops performance/value.
A big consideration for spending the extra $120 is build quality between the Gateway and the Toshiba.
Just tax the system during the return period. Anything seems iffy, return it. There is only so many factories that produce laptops. IMHO, add SSD and max the RAM if you have the need to spend the savings. SSD is more noticeable than any CPU speed increases.
