just my two cents, but I dont understand why anyone would pay this much for such a featureless tv if they had any access to slickdeals in the past month. This sure seems like the worst tv deal ive seen.
Was a great deal for me. I already have a receiver with plenty of HDMI jacks etc, wifi/internet ready Blu-Ray player and a computer so the TV really doesn't need to be anything but a display.
being new to plasmas i got this tv and was startled by how much better it was compared to my 2008 samsung LN40A650 LCD. the colors are just leaps and bounds better than my LCD, the blacks are darker, and overall its just great if you're going for the home theater. HOWEVER, the deal breaker is that if you are using it for home theater use, 1080p/24 sources are played @ 48Hz. the 48Hz feature flickers on bright scenes rendering it useless. too much horizontal tearing during the 3:2 pulldown at 60Hz for the 24p sources, so i've pretty much given up on this TV.
i'm trying to get my brothers to play halo 4 me so i can get $75 off best buy and combine that with my 2 amex cards for another $20 off, and buy the samsung PN51E700 for $800.
"Smoked" by windows phone 2012, might be my best SD yet if i could actually get the phone.
Been a Panasonic plasma owner since 2009. I bought this tv at Costco to replace my 42 inch panny I also bought from Costco back in 2009. I will never buy anything other than plasma. Panasonic is the king of plasma now that pioneer is no more. Those that are on the fence differently get this tv.
I bought this tv when the $550 amazon deal came around and I'm 100% happy with it...My house is kinda dark so I cant comment on the antiglare but I get tons of compliments from friends and family when they see the picture .
Do you think we will see even deeper price cuts closer to the Super Bowl?
from eye of newt
You really think so? I thought those BF prices were a once a year thing.
How slick are these super bowl deals you speak of? Like 60" Plasma for ~$650-700 slick?
Word I've heard more than once is that due to their poor financial situation and because sales have trended flat for all/most flat panels in general over the last couple years, Panasonic has kept a tighter reign on inventory this year. So it's unlikely that there will be any steep discounts. It might get a little cheaper here or there with an isolated model or two, but no deals so so good that you will be kicking yourself later for having bought too soon.
