I bought the Lenovo S405 this morning. I also found following on staples which will be $50 more (after rebate) but this one got i3 processor. It looks similar to Lenovo in term of size and weight.

Just bought this laptop online with coupon code 20703 . I needed help with live chat for coupon to work, but it only took about 5 minutes.

Thanks. Got a nice laptop for 330 shipped for my wife. Like everyone else, staples.com did not apply the code and the order came out as $439, but a phone call (was on hold for close to 10 min though..!) to a CSR helped me get $110 back in refunds.
Fastest impulse buy in a while..! Thankfully it was for the wife who is not as discerning as I am when it comes to laptops..! |

I also purchased this for a family member for Christmas. I used the chat to get them to apply the coupon code as it wouldn't work by itself. $320.99 with tax and in store pickup.

so in the end it's still a netbook pretty much. $299 for a netbook is an acceptable price, but it is warm at best. |

The wife asked for a cheap laptop to use Rossetta Stone and FB, but I am having a hard time not trying to look for an i3 or better...
One day I will catch a deal b4 its over.....

I have had two computers running W7 Ultimate x64 side by side for a while - HP A6 and a Acer i5-450M. All other specs are the same. The A6 just feels much snappier for every day tasks - browsing, e-mail, videos, even some light games. I know - old gen i5, but the A6 just delivers a more pleasant user experience.
I am sure the graphics performance of A6 will beat even a second gen i5. Since you can barely get an i3 for this price - I would pick the A6 any day of the week. Get one and try it out yourself. Just make sure you get rid of all the crapware/clean install. Benchmarks have really started to mean much less to me lately. |
