Old boy, so fking disturbing but the great. I highly recommend watching it.
BTW, I believe less than 10% of Koreans eat dogs. They are raised to be eaten. Not like pet dgs. More raised like chickens or poigs we eat. |

One of the places that raised them was actually located right next to base, almost along the fence. One week a couple Novembers ago I was augmenting security forces during an exercise and was sitting out in the cold in a DFP on the flight line. The dogs at this little shack way on the other side of the flight line from me would be barking up a storm for the longest time every night. Eventually you would hear the banging around of someone coming outside, there would be a blood-curdling, high-pitched yelp from one of the dogs, and then the rest of them would be silent for the remainder of the evening. I have no problem with them eating dog and would possibly try it when in Korea again (maybe, still working up the courage to try Balut next time I am in the Philippines), but that was certainly a chilling experience, hearing that happen every evening. I expect Josh Brolin to do a good job though and Sharlto Copley is good enough, but I just can't bring myself to get excited for it. While Spike Lee isn't afraid of controversy, I don't see a lot of the ending of the movie staying the same at all. I know Christian Bale was in talks to be the villain and he would have done a bang-up job, but that fell through just like Will Smith and Spielberg did. Anyway, after a quick search, it appears the movie is supposed to come out around next October. |

Smith was the one originally pushing for the movie to be made and Spielberg was the first director lined up for it. According to Wiki, Spielberg wasn't going to remake the original but adapt the manga the film was based on. They both dropped off it in 09 and the project was dead for about two years (I remember being pretty relieved when that was announced). Then it was revived with Spike Lee directing. Bale was only rumored to play the villain. Clive Owen as well (which also could have been good). In addition to Brolin and Copley, the third Olsen sister and Samuel L Jackson are going to be in it. No clue as to what role Sam will play yet though. I'm not expecting anything too good, but Brolin is a damn fine actor, so I could find myself surprised. I am however looking forward to the American remake of The Raid, so I don't hate all remakes. |

It seems like film company in charge knows what made The Raid great and are bringing those elements together for the remake. It probably won't feature silat as a martial art, but I am okay with that. I got a temporary silat fix from Merantau (Gareth Evens and Iko Uwais' first movie together; just watched it recently after The Raid) and hopefully The Raid: Retaliation (the sequel) will be out soon enough for me to get more. |
