Houston (IAH) to Dubai (DXB) $693 all in, April/May via United

Funny, I just took my family to IAH yesterday to fly on Emirates to Singapore via Dubai. I've always wanted to stop in for a day to check it out when I go to Singapore, but I dunno as a final destination....but tempting as a mileage run too.

*I don't think there's more than 3-4 days worth to do there, right? It's a lot like Singapore of the Middle East? Are there anywhere else to hop to from there cheaply that's worth it?

I don't know why people would want to go there. It's a huge waste of money and life to build Dubai in a dessert. What are you going to do there if you are not a shopper? You are going to hate the price as a SDer anyway.
