The way you will get warranty service is that you send it back to them, then they go to the AD that sold it to them who then sends it to Canon. The easiest way is to go through Canon yourself too. Speaker companies did the same "must be purchased from an AD for warranty" BS, but when the economy tanked, nobody would pay inflated prices, so the above "trick" is how the workaround evolved. Canon can track it through the SN. Let me know if your experience differs from this. |

Seeing how eBay has made a habit of treating sellers like shit in recent years, I have no idea how they continue to let these crooks continue to operate advertising their Canon equipment as having a "Canon USA Warranty" when they aren't an authorized seller. It just comes to show you that eBay will treat you like a tool - unless you area a high volume seller in which case they'll bend over for you and make exceptions.

Canon USA Warranty means Canon will fix your Camera as long as you have a receipt you don't need to buy from AD. But i agree their auction is shady but it still is same camera. All cameras come from the same Japanese plant--orders from Canon USA means USA camera w/ USA warranty card but other orders still have same warranty. It just happens that Canon USA will fix any camera as long as you have receipt. I know that they are selling the international version because I bought on BF and inside there was an international power plug and USA power plug but no Canon USA warranty card. W/ a squaretrade warranty for $237, I don't mind.

This is a great price for those that missed out on BF deal. If you're going to have an issue i'm betting it would be within the first few weeks of owning the camera, so you could potentially return it to the seller.
Personally i'm going to hold off. Nikonrumors indicated that the D800 may receive a price drop on the 15th, probably to $2999. I'm hoping this may put some more pressure on the 5D3 as i'd rather pay $100 more and buy from an Authorized seller such as Amazon/BH/Adorama. |
