I was looking for a new Hard Drive just for backup and ran across something called Red 3 TB NAS from Western Digitial and read some really good reviews about it. However, after closer inspection I found out that these hard drives are for NAS which I know nothing about. So my question is, can I use this hard drive and still get good speeds for my personal PC as a storage medium? I don't plan to run Raid or anything of that nature, I'm just plugging it into my PC and store videos and pictures in them.
Should I stick with my purchase or is there a better HD for my needs?
the red drives were designed for 24/7 use in an array with a light workload
you would probably be better off with a green if this is just for data-storage, but if you wanted to use it as a boot-disk, then you should look elsewhere - either to a SSD or a blue/black/raptor - or look at the seagate equivalents
