TD also has the silver color model for 499.99. No tax for me. I paid 480 after tax for the staples S200e. So 20 dollars more for the bluetooth is not bad at all.

On the Asus website for the S200e under the specs tab at http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Sup...ifications it says that the S200e has Bluetooth. However, all the comments in this thread say it does not. Does anyone have confirmation one way or the other?

There are different versions sold by specific companies. The international version is the same as the X202E and it does have blue tooth. The ones sold by best buy and I believe staples do not.

Thanks. I bought at Staples but have not opened yet as it is for xams. The main model number on the box says Model: S200E. However, on the box on a white label in very tiny print it also says; MB VER.X202E. I wonder why the reference to x202e?

Fry's now has the X202E @ $498.
Is there a chance an i5 version will come along?
I think 3rd Gen i3 may be too slow?

I don't do any memory intensive stuff. Will 4gb be enough? Would love a backlit keyboard,
I checked out the S200E at Staples and I love the size, however I am reluctant to pull the trigger, then have to pay $175 for an SSD and an external optical drive.
Am I missing another machine that would better fit my needs?

the S200e model comes with an external optical drive. You can get a decent 128GB~180GB SSD for under $100 nowadays

I just bought one for $500 at Staples but it's a bit sluggish when it's downloading programs from online and switching applications. For example, it took almost an hour to download Microsoft Office and chrome. Is anyone else having this issue?

Mine was pretty fast. But I returned it yesterday because I don't like the screen. I thought I could stand with the TN panel, but now IPS is a must for me.

sounds like you need faster internet. I haven't noticed any issues with speed. You will want to check your power settings though. I have mine set to performance mode while plugged in and power save mode when on battery. It is noticeably slower when not plugged in and the CPU underclocks to .8Ghz. It's still fast enough to browse the interwebs and stream video.

folks, I got this touchscreen notebook. it is pretty fast and I even don't feel tbe need to replace to ssd. thank op.

Fry's just went up from $498 to $599... missed it for now...
Anyone have success migrating Win 8 to SSD on this machine?
