"Those who received it, tell us about your e-mail marketing preferences from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/gss/ccp?...ref_=ya_21

Are there any of you who just have one category turned on and got the e-mail? I'm wondering what it comes under so I can turn that on for future use. Probably better to edit the Wiki than reply to this. Thanks."

I received the 10% off of a $300 or more email. My email marketing preferences are turned on and every box is checked. x 2

I hope this helps fellow SD'ers with future Amazon coupons! x 2

For all who are looking for 10% promotion code, just chat with Amazon CS & tell them you are not able to see 10% promotion applied on checkout page and they will do it for you. I was able to get 10% + $5 off (Amazon-Facebook offer).

LOL SD made up a 20% code and now everyone is going to be asking amazon chat for it hahahaha.

Guys ask amazon for the legendary 50% off coupon with free lifetime prime. They will only give it to you if you ask for it three times! Refuse to take no for an answer!!!
I prefer 99% off VIP code with free same day delivery
probably could get it, with the purchase of amazon LLC.

No one outside Amazon really knows. The only real concrete information is that they did the massive ban wave once, got a little too much publicity, and instead now unceremoniously stealth ban you whenever they feel like it. No warning, no explanation. And yes, it is still ongoing.

My personal theory is that the algorithm takes the amount of revenue you generate, then offsets it with the costs incurred to gain that revenue. Incur too many costs (returns, phone/chat inquiries, concession credits, etc.), particularly on low-margin items, and your account is flagged for manual review. The manual reviewer likely looks at the numbers, applies whatever subjective weight they have to the rubric, then issues a ban. Amazon is known for their extensive data mining and performance metrics. Doing something like this childs play.

My guess? Shipping upgrades probably figure into it.
What sucks is that they probably ding you even when they are in the wrong and the rep says "well, we will make an exception and give you a one-time credit" like with the missing Halo 4 credits or when some other promo doesn't get properly credited.

Amazon charges tax where I live now and a lot of places price match to it so if I were to get banned, I think I would survive. It would be a totally different story if I lived in one of those amazon tax free states.

I don't think you should live in fear of amazon. The customer is always right!
